Medication Adherence among Primary Care Patients with Common Mental Disorders and Chronic Medical Conditions in Rural India

Background: Only a few studies have explored the relationship between psychosocial factors and medication adherence in Indian patients with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). We aimed to examine association of variables people NCDs comorbid common mental disorders (CMDs) from primary care rural southern India. Methods: performed secondary analysis using baseline data randomized controlled trial 49 health centers India (HOPE study). Participants were adults (≥30 years) that included hypertension, diabetes, and/or ischemic heart disease, depression or anxiety disorders. Medication was assessed by asking participants if they had missed any prescribed NCD past month. Data collected May 2015 November 2018. The demographic nonadherence via logistic regression analyses.
